The SaMercy Fund, a donor advised component fund, was established by Samantha Warden and Denise Bayer in memory of Sam and Mercy McCawley, who were tragically killed in a UTV (Utility Terrain Vehicle) accident while visiting relatives in Texas. The family and friends who have pooled their resources to put this Fund together strongly believe “no other family should have to suffer the loss of a loved one because they were not aware of the dangers present in improperly operating an ATV/UTV.”
For this reason, they have established The SaMercy Fund for the following goals:
- to educate parents and riders on the safety precautions that are necessary when driving an ATV/UTV;
- to create awareness about the dangers of inappropriate or incorrect ATV/UTV use;
- to award grants to ATV/UTV vendors in providing classes and safety equipment for driver education;
- to award Grants of Grace for Grieving Familes-funds that are set aside to aid with counseling and retreats for families experiencing the loss of child/children
Their goal is for The SaMercy Fund to represent both ATV/UTV safety AND provide respite assistance for grieving familes.
